Oracle announces AI Registry and AI-generated business ontologies to govern enterprise AI agents
Announced at Oracle AI World on 27 October, the AI Data Platform features include an inventory of agents, tools and MCP servers; Oracle says they will arrive within 12 months and are not a delivery commitment.

Oracle has announced new capabilities for its AI Data Platform at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas, aimed at giving AI agents shared business context and giving organisations tools to govern a growing estate of agents. Oracle says the features will be available within the next 12 months.
An AI Discovery agent generates business ontologies from database schemas, semantic models, application and API documentation and unstructured documents; domain experts then review, refine and approve them. Oracle says the platform will monitor agents’ use of ontologies and recommend updates for approval.
The Oracle AI Registry is described as a central inventory of agents, tools, skills and MCP servers, recording ownership, versions, dependencies, permissions and lifecycle status. A planned AI Governance and Control capability would add testing, policy assessment and monitoring of agent behaviour, quality, usage and cost. Oracle’s own disclaimer states that timing and functionality may change.
Editor’s note: This article relies on Oracle’s own announcement and trade-press coverage of it; capabilities and claims have not been independently verified.
Why it matters
The registry mirrors what an AI inventory needs to hold—owner, version, dependencies, permissions and lifecycle status—so teams can use it as a benchmark for their own agent inventory, whatever tooling they use. The ontology workflow places business domain experts as approvers of AI-generated definitions, which effectively extends data stewardship and glossary ownership to agent context. Because the features are announced rather than available, governance teams should not build compliance plans around them until delivery is confirmed.
Status: Announced. Oracle says available within 12 months; not a commitment to deliver
